鶴岡文旦柚主要產地為花蓮縣瑞穗鄉鶴岡村,位於瑞穗鄉之東北側,1970 年代這裡是以『鶴岡紅茶』揚名國際,由於進出口銷售巿場改變,導致該產業日漸消條。在瑞穗鄉農會及政府積極輔導下,農民於1961 年開始轉種文旦。但在當時這裡的文旦並沒特定的名字或品牌,直到1988 年,前行政院農業委員會主任委員余玉賢先生命名為『鶴岡文旦』,由於品質優良,開始聲名大噪,享譽全省!
